Piedmont and Tuscany are the regions where vintages most matter, and where the
wines most repay ageing, especially Barolo and Barbaresco from Piedmont and Chianti
Classico and Brunello di Montalcino from Tuscany. This is not to say that other
Italian reds do not improve with age; most whites however are best drunk in early
youth.
